The Met Gala 2025 lit up New York City on Monday, May 5, at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year, the event honored the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking 2009 book Slaves to Fashion, the exhibition explored the legacy of Black dandyism. It showed how this style has shaped Black identity across the Atlantic diaspora. For the first time since 2003, the Institute focused specifically on menswear.
